Fly Away Home

Just re-watched this movie for the first time in years.
Beautiful cinematography.
(and Jeff Daniels is a bit of a fox...)

Almost Famous

I'd kill for a summer on-tour. Chilling on an old-school bus, reading, writing, hangin' out with good people... I'm sure it would get monotonous, but ideally seems just the ticket.
The scene in which they all start singing Elton John's Tiny Dancer is one of my all-time favorite movie scenes.
love cameron crowe.

Vivien Leigh

A Streetcar Named Desire and Gone With the Wind are two of my favorites. I remember first seeing the latter on TV with my dear friend Andrea when we were in middle school. We took many many snack breaks but by the end both wanted to be Scarlett.
Found all of these photos of Vivien Leigh on her facebook fan page...
(this is for you Ju, because of your epic GWTW love...)

The Seven Year Itch

Went to see this last week downtown with a few friends. It was screened in a large outdoor courtyard space in the financial district, right along the East River. It was a great deal of fun. There is nothing like an outdoor movie in the summer to set yourself right, especially with the nice breeze coming off of the river. OOF!
[500] Days of Summer

Going to see this today!
(I have to admit, I sort of love a few rain predictions in the summer... It makes it feel more legitimate sitting inside the dark movie theater, since you are not wasting a sunny day.)
Update: Oh, so good!

Away We Go

Yea, it was that good.
(And to make it better, I even saw Mr. Krasinski the day after I saw the film, walking down First Avenue!)

Dharma & Greg

My friend Andrea and I use to watch Dharma & Greg religiously. We would sit together on the bus Thursday morning and proceed to talk about last night's episode from beginning to end.
It was a sad day when the show went off of the air a few years later. But to my great happiness I received the first season on DVD a few years ago as a birthday present. I started to watch them again a few days ago. I love how quirky and spunky Jenna Elfman/Dharma is. The show always puts a smile on my face!

Taking Woodstock

I cannot wait for this film to come out! My aunt and uncle live a short drive away from the original Woodstock fields and I can remember taking walks around there when I was a kid. I do think I was born in the wrong generation...
Watch the trailer here!
August 14th 2009 cannot come fast enough...

Iron Jawed Angels

Watched Iron Jawed Angels a few nights ago. Amazing film. Great group of actresses (Hilary Swank, Julia Ormond, Angelica Huston, Frances O'Connor).

Coco Avant Chanel

Anxiously waiting for this to come out state-side!
Oh and how perfect is the new Chanel ad with Audrey?

Some Like it Hot

Saw Some Like it Hot on Saturday night at midnight down on Houston St. There really is nothing like seeing old movies on the big screens they were intended for. My love for Marilyn Monroe grew astronomically. What a legend!

I Capture the Castle

I could watch this movie over and over.
Rose Byrne and Romola Garai are two of my favorites.
And you can never go wrong with Bill Nighy.
The lovely little costumes and scenery are to die for.
I'd like a castle, please. With a mote, of course.
(...and a gardener like Steven)

Rushmore

Watched Rushmore for the first time yesterday! (I know, I know... ) My friend Katie talks about it all the time and the movie really lived up to all her chat. It was Brilliant with a capital B!
Young Jason Schwartzman is just as wonderful as the older Jason of Phantom Planet, Coconut Records and Marie Antoinette...
...He is one bad-ass beekeeper.
