Away We Go

Yea, it was that good.

(And to make it better, I even saw Mr. Krasinski the day after I saw the film, walking down First Avenue!)

Air Conditioners

I grew up in a very old house. The rooms are small and the walls are many inches thick with plaster. Because of this, we never did worry about air-conditioners. It was so well insulated that the coolness from the night just stayed.

It was only on the few scorching, 100 degree + days that I ever dreamed of having cool air blown directly into the house. (on those days,  I would be sure to pop over to a friends house to take advantage of theirs, along with their cable TV!)

I moved into a new apartment a little under a month ago and installed my first-ever air conditioner yesterday. It feels like such a treat to come home and instantly cool off on these hot, muggy new york days. (I do wish that the view wasn't quite as obstructed but, hey.
I sound like a crazy, I agree. But my! An air conditioner of my very own!

(there is an entire flickr account dedicated to air conditioners. which helped me to legitimize this post. they are a wonderful invention.)
She wasn’t doing a thing that I could see, except standing there, leaning on the balcony railing, holding the universe together.

"Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe." -- Neil Gaiman

Joshua Radin

Saw Joshua Radin on the Today Show a few days ago. He is just so wonderful! And I love the video to his song "I'd Rather Be With You." Perfect to watch on a summer day! I wish I could frolic in the ocean right now...

Dharma & Greg

My friend Andrea and I use to watch Dharma & Greg religiously. We would sit together on the bus Thursday morning and proceed to talk about last night's episode from beginning to end.

It was a sad day when the show went off of the air a few years later. But to my great happiness I received the first season on DVD a few years ago as a birthday present. I started to watch them again a few days ago. I love how quirky and spunky Jenna Elfman/Dharma is. The show always puts a smile on my face!

Taking Woodstock

I cannot wait for this film to come out! My aunt and uncle live a short drive away from the original Woodstock fields and I can remember taking walks around there when I was a kid. I do think I was born in the wrong generation...

August 14th 2009 cannot come fast enough...

Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell is one of my favorite women of all time. I could listen to her records (yes, real vinyl.) for hours. I once drove up to Cape Cod with both Chelsea Morning and California on "repeat" (it was a tape, so the rewind and fast-forward buttons were in intense use.... By the end, my mom made us promise that, on the way back we would not touch the tape deck.)

Style.com has a few photos of her, with annotations, on their website. I also learned a fun fact: Chelsea Clinton was named after the song of the same name!
