Sunglasses

I bought my first pair of grown-up, more-than-$10 sunglasses this weekend...
This is a big step for me.

Roxy Paine

We went to the MET today and saw Roxy Paine's work on the roof, which i loved. His stainless-steel sculptures reach high up into the sky and to the corners of the deck. They feel like the kind of tree limbs that stretch over lakes; limbs that you can lay on with a good book all afternoon...

There is an cool video of them installing the piece on the MET's website.

Moving Day

Moving day is quickly approaching! There is something nice about a fresh start, new apartment, cleaning out all of your closets, deciding what you don't need or never wear. I am going through my bookshelves, clothes, art supplies and shoes... I tend to save things forever, thinking that i'll want to wear them again in a year or so.

There is also a sadness that comes with leaving an old place, apartment, house. I've been on the move since last March, living in four different places (A short rental on the upper east side, a house in the middle of a small french town, Julianne's apartment with it's amazing NYC location, my beautiful old house in Connecticut...) But I am greatly looking forward to having a home-base. While i love exploring and traveling around, seeing new things and meeting new people, it is nice to have a space to come back to that is yours. Oof! less than a week! Now if only an amazing, well-paying, art-related job could fall into my hands... perfection!

Liv Tyler + Nylon

I saw this photo of liv in the first issue of nylon, they just put it up on their website. oh i wish they would revert back to the old-days... i interned at nylon for a semester . One day they had me organizing all the past issues. it was amazing to see the issues from 1999-2003ish.... amazing spreads, simple, great writing.... it feels like they are trying so hard to be "in" now that the magazine just seems over-done... oh well, maybe i'm just getting too old for it.
see the issue here.
